Trauma-Informed Care Training & Coaching
What is Trauma-Informed Care?
Trauma-informed Care (TIC) is a strengths-based service delivery approach that is grounded in an understanding of a responsiveness to the impact of trauma, which emphasizes physical, psychological, and emotional safety for both providers and survivors to rebuild a sense of control and empowerment. TIC is a systems-wide response to trauma. This means every part of a system is mindful of the traumatic experiences of people the system serves, as well as the people working in the system, and actively tries to respond in ways that promote healing and avoid re-traumatizing individuals.
How does the Crystal Stairs Bridge Program provide Trauma-Informed Care services to the community?
In partnership with Child Care Alliance of Los Angeles, Drew Child Development Corporation, and Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, our Trauma-Informed Care Advisors (TICA) provide training, coaching, and intentional outreach to childcare providers in order to empower the provider with knowledge, skills, and dispositions that support children who may have experienced trauma. Our TIC Advisors deliver evidence-based training on TIC strategies in early childhood education settings to childcare providers across Los Angeles County, as well as provide specialized TIC coaching to childcare providers who are participating in the Emergency Child Care Bridge Program.
Children with histories of trauma need to feel safe, have strong relationships and learn to manage their feelings and behaviors. The Bridge Program supports you in creating a consistent, predictable environment so children feel safe; building nurturing relationships with children so they can heal and thrive; and developing children’s ability to manage their behavior, feelings, and thinking.

Trauma-Informed Care Coaching
Child care providers working with a child enrolled in the Bridge Program can participate in free Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) coaching! Coaching sessions focus on building the child-care provider’s TIC skillset. Coaches will also support you in practicing TIC strategies with children in your care.
Coaching sessions are offered in English and Spanish. Coaching sessions are currently being conducted Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, via telephone or Zoom. Child Care providers can determine the frequency of coaching sessions, however, most providers find that meeting 1 time per month with a TICA is most helpful.
